Morgan Brady: Through the Eyes of an Intern

Hello there! I am Tipping Point’s Back of House summer intern, Morgan Brady. I’m a rising senior at St. Bonaventure University, double majoring in marketing and accounting. As a member of the Division One Cross Country and Track team at St. Bonaventure, you can find me running around campus or town. If I’m not running, you can find me in the business center coordinating events or networking as the Vice President of the American Marketing Association student chapter at St. Bonaventure. If I’m not at either of those two places, you can most likely find me at the campus Starbucks.

Now you may be thinking, “marketing and accounting, what an odd combo.” I completely agree. It took the first two years of my college experience, switching my major three times, and endless conversations with my professors to finally come to the conclusion that I can do both, and graduate on time! I knew I would have to work twice as hard my last two years, but I found that when you’re working towards something you’re truly passionate about, that hard work becomes easier than expected.

After taking multiple marketing classes, I wanted to learn more about my passion for it – and that’s precisely where Tipping Point comes in. This past spring semester, I was thrilled to be added to the Back of House team as their summer intern.

To start my time at Tipping Point, I showed up to my first day 40 minutes early, waited in my car, and then walked in. I didn’t know what to expect, but being in contact with the team in advance made me feel much more confident walking into those front doors. I was instantly greeted by welcoming faces throughout the building – all women, might I add – which is one of the many reasons I was interested in Tipping Point and one of the many reasons I’m motivated each day.

That same day, I learned more about marketing and marketing agencies than I thought I would, and I was eager to learn more. The fast-paced agency life was inherently a part of Tipping Point, whether a client meeting, contacting vendors, or meeting deadlines. Getting to work alongside such dedicated women every day turned out to surpass any course in college I’ve taken.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and halfway through my internship; I assisted the Back of House Team with multiple tasks and summer projects. Everyone has their own unique, contributing role at Tipping Point and I was happy to be a part of that. One of my projects for this summer involved documenting the ins and outs of Facebook, so our team can better serve their clients interested in using the platform and its many features, such as Creator Studio.

I’m now nearing the end of my time at Tipping Point and I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of many work-life experiences. For example, I’ve had the opportunity to sit in on client meetings, where client’s marketing campaigns are discussed. There, I’ve gotten to meet and speak with clients I’ve grown up hearing about and even singing their catchy jingles. Like I said – an experience that surpasses any college course.

Following this, I am a very data-driven individual, and that is just the type of work I’ve gotten to do! I’ve created presentations summarizing digital tactics on social media platforms that clients use. I’ve also learned that Excel flow charts are one of the backbones of any marketing campaign. Numbers drive these charts and it’s interesting to see how money is distributed, and to which vendor, throughout a marketing campaign. Clearly, these work-life experiences weren’t hard to come by at Tipping Point, which I truly appreciate.

With my time coming to a close, I wanted to thank you, Tipping Point, for letting me be a part of your team and for the opportunity to learn about the work done for your clients. Getting to learn more about my passion for marketing and the work that’s put in to provide meaningful support for clients here at Tipping Point makes me even more excited to see what my future holds.
